King Canyon reach new heights in their latest single ‘Gravity’ (releasing November 12) – a much-needed dose of optimism and escapism in the post-lockdown world.
This is the 6th single we’ve heard from King Canyon, which has proven to be yet another leap forward for the group in songwriting and production. There is an authority to the performance of Gravity that leaves you no choice but to sit up and listen, and the vocal delivery will have you hanging off every word.
At first it was just a tale of “time to move on, let’s see what else is over the horizon” but when the Gravity chorus arrived, it became more about reaching for something better, even when (Gravity) keeps trying to pull you back down” (James Ryan)
“Gravity” was mixed at the legendary HippoSonic Studios in Vancouver, Canada by Darren Grahn (Metallica, The Cult, Veruca Salt, Stevie Forbat) who adds his usual flavour of gritty-crisp production.
Wearing their influences on their sleeve, King Canyon have an instantly recognisable and widely appealing sound that distils the Soul of the 60s coupled with the blues rock invasion of the 70s. Yet they have perfectly molded that sound into a thoroughly contemporary pocket.
King Canyon was formed by acclaimed vocalist and front man Jimmy Cupples and in demand guitarist James Ryan (Ross Wilson, The Badloves). With a musical chemistry founded on decades of experience, you’ll be surprised to know the duo only started King Canyon in early 2020.
Speaking of the fortuitous pairing that led to King Canyon, Ryan explains;
“When the worldwide quarantine kicked in and the live scene came to a sudden halt, I decided to finally pursue a band project I had wanted to do for so long”. – James Ryan
With ‘Gravity’, King Canyon leave no doubt that they’ve well and truly settled into their sound.
“One of the things we are enjoying the most is how easy the process has been and how much fun we are having. In King Canyon we are able to embrace our influences and instinctively go with our gut and let the good times roll.” – King Canyon
Gravity will be available here, and on all streaming services on Friday, November 12, 2021:
