AUSSIE FILMMAKER THOMAS MEADMORE ANNOUNCES GLOBAL ITUNES/AMAZON RELEASE OF ACCLAIMED MUSIC DOCO ‘HOW TO LOSE JOBS & ALIENATE GIRLFRIENDS’
Gifted UK-based Melbourne film maker, Thomas Meadmore, has announced the international iTunes/Amazon release of his acclaimed debut, full-length music documentary, How to Lose Jobs & Alienate Girlfriends, available around the globe on June 7.
How to Lose Jobs & Alienate Girlfriends is a warts-and-all documentary about the rollercoaster creative process of two separate, independent music artists as they pursue their dreams to become professional singers and songwriters. Directed, filmed, edited and narrated by Meadmore, the doco came to life when encouraged by his boss, Tony Jackson (TV Director, Lonely Planet) to take the plunge and make his first film. But after just a few months behind the camera, Meadmore slams head first in to major pitfalls that see his two subjects and two closest relationships; boss, Jackson and girlfriend, Amanda Medica become a disaster zone, and Meadmore’s insecurities flare as he struggles to find a concrete story. Over five years in the making, the resulting outcome of this drama is this unflinching, utterly engaging and incredibly honest documentary.
Thrilled that the film will now be available for international download, Meadmore says, ‘After so many years making this film, it’s an absolute joy to see its release to the world. It feels like a chapter is finished. I am also nervous of course – it’s always so scary letting something so personal out there to be seen and judged. But the journey has been epic and I couldn’t be more excited to give people a chance to discover it on such a brilliant platform!’
How to Lose Jobs & Alienate Girlfriends has already garnered praise from notable sources around the world. The film has played to sold out audiences at Cinequest in San Jose, USA, and East End Film Festival in London, as well as receiving a glowing four stars from premiere UK journal, Total Film Magazine. Of the film’s success, Meadmore enthuses, “It’s been amazing to see it play at festivals of such calibre. Not only that, the response has been incredible. It tends to divide people, as it’s quite confronting on an emotional level, and that’s very satisfying to see as a filmmaker. You strive to make a film you are proud of, and if it affects people in some way it’s a dream.”
The exciting young filmmaker has been keeping busy since the release of the debut. Speaking about his latest projects, Meadmore says, “I’ve recently finished editing ‘The Guv’nor’ for Salon Pictures. It’s an intimate and revealing portrait of the toughest man in Britain, and features Guy Ritchie and Jason Fleming. I am also over a year into filming my latest personal film, ‘The Cancer Conflict’, following two people battling cancer, one who’s chosen only alternative therapy, the other orthodox, while exploring the question ‘why does the UK have the lowest cancer survival rate in western Europe?’”
How To Lose Jobs and Alienate Girlfriends will be available on iTunes and Amazon around the globe on June 7.
