GOLDROOM New single ‘Tradewinds’ featuring Kayslee Collins

Following the re-release of his triple j Hottest 100 charting single “Embrace” featuring George Maple, LA producer, songwriter and DJ Goldroom today presents the new single from his EP ‘It’s Like You Never Went Away’ (via Create/Control and Downtown Records).

Originally written as a folk song ‘Tradewinds’ featuring Kayslee Collins embodies the breezy summertime vibes for which Goldroom is becoming known and loved, infusing them with tropical textures.

“Tradewinds actually started as a short vocal chorus that I wrote singing along with my acoustic guitar, which I then used to make a bit of a disco banger. The thing that was interesting to me was juxtaposing what was a pretty personal folky lyric and applying it to some music you wouldn’t expect. It went from being a pretty calming and nostalgic sounding song into something with a lot more urgency.”

Drawing unexpected songwriting inspiration from artists like Tom Petty and Ryan Adams, Goldroom turned to Southern California to create his nostalgic sound. He originally wrote the four tracks on an acoustic guitar before recording them in studio, giving the EP a melodic, effortless feel.

Goldroom (aka Josh Legg) has garnered praise from Pitchfork, Fader, MTV, The Guardian (Band of the Week) and more, also earning ‘most blogged about’ honors on Hype Machine. He’s toured extensively, playing a range of festivals from SXSW and Firefly to EDM gatherings like Ultra Music Festival. Dubbed “one of Los Angeles’ dance music tastemakers” by Billboard, he’ll play several North American summer festival dates with his live four-piece band, including resident singer Nikki Segal.
