The Slacks are a rock & roll duo from Montreal who has a super catchy sound. You can definitely hear their influences such as Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis. Their sound reminds me of my childhood, as my dad was obsessed with those artists. The Slacks have been working together since 2014 and are now releasing their debut EP called Blue Mornin’. To get that original rock n roll sound Blue Mornin’ was recorded live, straight onto tape, before being transferred to digital so it could be mixing and mastering.
With their new single called ‘Cotton Candy Girl’, they really are meeting their goal of reviving the old sound rock n roll. The raw sound is interesting and the vocal sound is amazing. I love the guitar riffs that support the vocals really well. There is even a little scream in the song just like the 50’s. If you love rock and roll you will love ‘Cotton Candy Girl’. Listen here!
