empty measures drop new single ‘This Life’.

‘This Life’ is an amazingly honest, deeply relatable song that if you have experienced depression or periods of sadness you will connect to the meaning. During my first listen I was in wonder that empty measures have written a song that I was actually feeling that day. I needed to hear that I do have someone that lifts me up and I should ask and express my feelings.

Mental health is being discussed more and more today and there is less of a stigma attached. After the events of 2020 many of us are emerging from lockdown and feel more able to discuss our feelings. ‘This Life’ highlights with it’s meaningful lyrics that it is ok to feel this way but remember there is a way out. I love how the vocals are raw and the music supports the lyrics rather than take over. A brilliantly written song about how we process pain and feelings. This song is a must listen song of 2021. Best listened to with headphones on in a comfy place ready to reflect on how you feel. Check it out here.

Lyrics

I don’t wanna come out and play

I don’t wanna come out and play today

Just want to fade away

I’m tired of all these games we play

Just wanna stay in bed

Stay in bed and pull the covers up

Stay in bed and hideaway

Hideaway and dream today

Cos I can’t do this life this way

And I can only see the grey

And I can’t take these lonely days

But then I hear your voice

Say I’ll be okay again

And I’m falling, can you life me up

When I’m falling, can you lift me up

Hold me ’til the storms pass by

Hold me ’til the pain subsides

I see hope and it’s in your eyes

But the rain is still falling

and I can’t do this life this way

and I can only see the grey

and I can’t take these lonely days

and then I hear your voice

Say I’ll be ok again

and I’m falling, can you life me up

Falling, can you lift me up

Tell me I’ll be ok again

Lift me up so I can see

Lift me so I believe again

Lift me restore my faith

Lift me so I’m ok again

Lift me lift me lift me lift me..
