Well, there was that weather thing. Florida weather is the absolute worst part about these shows. It’s Florida. It happens. It’s easy to get impatient with the whole process, but let me just say: I can check nearly being a human lightning rod off my list of experiences. There was one strike so close to the berm that serves as the lawn section, and a sound barrier of the amphitheater, I could feel it. Safety has to come first. The upside is despite the delay, and a good amount of pre-gaming in the parking lot, the show did go on. When doors opened at 7:30 ( originally much earlier ) the nearly sold out crowd was ready to get into the music.

DJ Drama worked the crowd both before and in between sets. He was pretty chill at the beginning, but he slowly worked up the energy between the artists. Warren G , Too $hort and Berner, took us back, getting the crowd more and more worked up.

By the time Wiz Khalifa stepped out, the energy was palpable, I was looking forward to him for quite some time. To be completely honest, I liked him before he was on the Masked Singer, but loved him after his appearance as the Chameleon.

He is really more talented than people give him credit for. He was having such a good time, at least he seemed to be. Between his smile, and downright giddiness when he was using the cryo fogger, how could you not just love him?

Snoop Dogg is a force of his own. You just have to respect an artist who uses every square inch of the stage. From the stripper poles, and the aerial artists on them, to arriving on stage with a full size convertible, Snoop brought the house down. Performing his “Doggystyle” album in celebration of its 30th year was an excellent way to pay homage to what introduced him to the rest of the world.

He is more than a rapper, the man is an icon. Even people who aren’t necessarily rap fans know his face and his name. He definitely lives up to the hype. With 37 million records sold and a certified diamond hit, expectations were pretty high as were many of the fans. Snoop looks great. With his gold microphone and his namesake track suit, he worked the crowd like the talented performer he is. (I would wear that track suit by the way.) After a while in the Florida heat, the jacket was gone. The Lady of Rage joined him for a few songs, and Wiz Khalifa came back to the stage to end the night with an epic finale.

If you have the opportunity to see this show, it’s a definite must see event.
