Brooklyn’s rising emcee and producer duo Koncept & J57 have released a new video to accompany their latest single ‘The Fuel’ (feat. Akie Bermiss) overnight. Following on from the success of their recent video ‘Porcelain’ (feat. Hollis) which amassed 100,000 YouTube plays in under 48 hours, ‘The Fuel’ is the second single to come from their forthcoming EP The Fuel, out next Friday November 20, 2015 via Kon57 Records.
Directed by Jon Kilmer, the zealous video for ‘The Fuel’ is hard-hitting, showcasing the trials and tribulations endured by one individual person that would be enough to last anyone several lifetimes. Akie Bermiss’ soulful tones on the chorus tug at the heartstrings, carrying a deep emotional resonance as you watch a dedicated man trying to provide for his loved ones reach breaking point.
Inspired creator J57 has lent his production hand to some of the best in the business – Wu Tang legends Method Man, Raekwon and Inspectah Deck on their new single “The Purple Tape,” Joey Bada$$, The Roots, Tuka on his LTDE title track, and Thundamentals, to name a few. Popmatters have described his signature sound as “gigantic beats and arrangements that waste no time getting into your head.”
Actively involved in New York’s hip-hop scene for several years, Koncept, a gifted lyricist and emcee has collaborated with artists such as Pharoahe Monch, dead prez, Ty Dolla $ign, Royce da 5’9” and more. His real-life rhymes have drawn praise from Smoking Section, naming him “a welcome return to an era when hard times in hip-hop meant more than ‘she unfollowed me’…”
Koncept & J57 met in 2008 while working at Fat Beats, a West Village, NYC record store that was the launchpad for many underground rap artists while it was open from 1993-2010.
The Fuel EP is out next Friday November 20, 2015 (Kon57 Records) and is available to pre-order now
