Jen and Ryan Hamilton chat (again!) about his new Pledge Music Campaign.

In this industry it is a good idea not to have favorites however I like breaking the rules!  I have followed Ryan Hamilton’s solo career since he started this project and have been part of the Pledge Music for his first fan funded album and now proud to be involved again. Ryan is the King of fan interaction and is sharing his story to the world of how his life is, not a glorified story but his real one.

Hi Ryan, it has only been a year and in that time you have moved house amongst other things so I think you surprised your fans by announcing another Pledge Project! Tell us why it is so soon after the last one? (not that I am complaining!)

Well, it dawned on me that Hell of a Day had been out for almost a year, and the recording, mixing, mastering process takes a while… SO, if I was going to fund another another solo album via PledgeMusic, and have it out by the end of the year, I better launch this campaign! Haha. The past year has been the best kind of crazy. Easily my most successful, and most enjoyable of my career. Super excited to strike while the iron is hot (if you will) and keep this crazy adventure moving forward.

It reached 35% on the first day is that correct? How excited were you with this figure?

It did indeed! I was shocked! But in the best way.

What super cool specials are you offering for your Pledge? From small to big?

I didn’t want to do anything too big/crazy. So I kept this one pretty simple. There are some fun exclusives, like “get you name in the liner notes”… there are items from music videos. Plus, all the typical fun stuff like exclusive hoodies and tshirts. I’m super proud of the campaign. It was important to me to keep it simple. Last thing I want is people going, “$7,000 to have dinner with him?? Who the hell does this guys think he is?!”. Haha.

The hoodie and Tee’s designs have not been designed, anything you can tell us about what till be on them?

I can tell you that the hoodie and tshirt designs will be different! Thought that would be cool. To have different designs for both.

Will this album be like ‘Hell of a Day’ or different?

It will be similar… but I think it’s going to be stronger. Simply because I’ve grown more confident as a solo artist, and I really think these new songs are the best I’ve ever written.

Lately I saw that your artwork of David Bowie made it on to a tee that Fearne Cotton wore on Celebrity Juice. How does it feel that your artwork is getting out there? Your portrayal of David Bowie is out there now!

It feels amazing! She’s a huge deal. I was already a fan of her, her husband and her husband’s band. Plus, her father in law is Ronnie Wood. So, I should be hanging out with the Rolling Stones soon, right? 😉

Haha! yes! If you do count me in! Do you have anything else you would like to say to gently persuade readers to join your campaign? The link is here.

Yes. I am DETERMINED to show that artists like myself don’t have to buy into the greedy, manipulative ways of the music business. I want to show/prove that an artist can sustain their career without the “help” of managers and record labels. If you guys will stick with me, and continue to support new things like PledgeMusic… Then I promise to continue to put everything I’ve got into this life. To put out good music, and create REAL relationships with the wonderful people who are making it all happen. Music should bring people together. Now get out there and SHARE 🙂

Thanks Ryan, I agree with artists doing their albums this way. It makes it more interactive with fans. I have pledged and will probable add to that a tee or a hoodie real soon.
