CAMP COPE RELEASE VIDEO FOR “DONE”

CAMP COPE RELEASE VIDEO FOR ‘DONE’
FILMED AT THEIR SOLD OUT ALBUM LAUNCH IN BRISBANE LAST MONTH

Melbourne’s CAMP COPE are stoked to release the video for ‘Done’, the opener from their acclaimed self-titled debut album, out now on Poison City Records. Filmed at the Crowbar in Brisbane at their sold out album launch last month, the video for ‘Done’ speaks volumes for the inclusive, safe environment that CAMP COPE work for at each of their shows, and while most are remembered for the performance itself, on this night it was the crowd’s solidarity that was the stand out, as detailed in punter Sommer Tothill’s recount of the night that has gone on to be shared over 100 times.

On the events that unfolded that night, singer Georgia Maq says, “The 1:33 mark in the video captures me calling out the aggressive men who were “just trying to enjoy” themselves, while compromising the safety, wellbeing and enjoyment of those around them. Rest assured, as long as we’re on stage and have a platform to have our voices heard, we will always call out this behaviour.” The bond between crowd and band reached new heights that night, with the front row a proud line of women exchanging hugs after their set for standing a solidified, united front.

CAMP COPE have had an unparalleled year so far. The Melbourne-based three-piece – Georgia Maq(vocals/guitar), Kelly-Dawn Hellmrich (bass) and Sarah Thompson (drums) – released their heart-breaking self-titled debut to critical acclaim in April, hitting the ARIA Top 40 lead by the single ‘Jet Fuel Can’t Melt Steel Beams’, their anthem for women reclaiming safe streets.

And that was just the start: Feature Album on Triple R, FBi Radio Album Packet, PBS FM Feature Album, and playlist additions on triple j, 4ZZZ, SYN FM, for ‘Done’ and ‘Jet Fuel Can’t Melt Steel Beams’, topping Best New Music lists nationwide and 4 star reviews in the Herald Sun, The Brag, Beat Magazine and The Music, with Rolling Stone calling it a “melodic, uplifting and aching debut.” They sold out every show on their proceeding album tour, with the Melbourne show selling out five weeks in advance and tickets for Sydney selling out less than one hour.

The eight tracks on Camp Cope discuss real-life experience, working shifts in hospitals, living in run down share houses and what it’s like to be a woman in the world. Forming only a year ago, CAMP COPE have gone on to share stages with Modern Baseball, Waxahatchee, Jeff Rosenstock and Mere Women, and have been announced on this year’s Poison City Weekender, alongside Cayetana (US) The Benniesand Pity Sex (US).
