Melbourne via Adelaide modern rock four-piece Society Of Beggars have spent the better part of 2016 locked away in the studio working with renowned rock n roll producer Lindsay Gravina to bring you the first single ‘An Angel Called Night’ from their forthcoming EP.
Gravina, the producer behind famed Aussie artists such as Violet Soho, Jet, Magic Dirt & The Living End has said “With that voice, those songs, and that sound, this record’s already a success, before anyone else has even heard it” and he isn’t wrong. From the moment you hit play lead singer Yianni’s vocals hit you in the face; they are strong, husky, and totally unique. The strength of Yianni’s vocals was originally showcased with incredible light & depth in ‘Terrible Rain’ the second single from the rockers, which inevitably put the band on the map.
‘One of Melbourne’s most well-loved (and fun to drink to) Alternative Rock n Roll bands’ TONE DEAF
“Terrible Rain taps into the intensity of New Order and Joy Division, with high neck tones that recall the iconic opening riff from Silversun Pickups’ ‘Lazy Eye.’ BOMBSHELLZINE
‘The group’s commitment is evidenced by their sheer instrumental power and rich lyrical themes’ BEAT MAGAZINE
To celebrate the release of their new single & perfectly timed with Halloween, the band have released a dark & twisted film clip, described best by the collective as “Partying girl gangs, anxiety, hooded faceless entities and a porcelain duck”.
‘AN ANGEL CALLED NIGHT’ is available on Spotify and iTunes
