Avalanche City announces Australian sideshows for national Dixie Chicks tour

New Zealand’s Avalanche City has announced a handful of exclusive and intimate Australian sideshows to compliment dates with Dixie Chicks on their ‘MMXVII’ Tour in March and April.

The headline shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth will offer Australian fans the first opportunity to witness the artist in Australia since the triumphant success of Avalanche City’s latest album, ‘We Are For The Wild Places’

Hailing from Tauranga, New Zealand, Avalanche City is the musical moniker of Dave Baxter.

The 2011 APRA Silver Scroll winner will be joined on the road by members of his touring band, performing fan favourites from ‘We Are For The Wild Places’, as well as his acclaimed breakthrough debut ‘Our New Life Above The Ground’.

Baxter’s latest critically admired album is the result an accidental hit career, which launched the artist to international acclaim

‘We Are For The Wild Places’ peaked at #1 on the NZ iTunes album chart, and debuted at #3 on the New Zealand Top 40 Albums Chart.

Beautiful first single, Inside Out was a chart and radio smash hit in New Zealand – reaching #1 airplay for five consecutive weeks.

The track quickly reached platinum sales and peaked at #1 on the sales chart.

Avalanche City has toured globally, including headline runs throughout Australia, Canada, UK and New Zealand, as well as international support tour alongside the likes of Fun, Robbie Williams, Busby Marou and Conrad.

The sideshows will intertwine Baxter’s forthcoming dates alongside the Dixie Chicks on their epic ‘MMXVII’ World Tour across seven dates in Australia and New Zealand.

One of the most prolific and captivating live acts on the planet, Dixie Chicks are widely recognised as the biggest US female band of all time.

Hailing from Auckland, New Zealand, Avalanche City is the musical moniker of Dave Baxter. His critically acclaimed debut album Our New Life Above Ground featured 5x Platinum single Love, Love, Love. Following breakout success in 2011, Baxter spent unhurried months in his home studio, a leafy backyard room affectionately named The Treehouse.
