The Valley Ends release new single & video “Dark Emu” + May 11 launch show

1 May 2018 — Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, The Valley Ends are gearing up for the release of their debut album ‘Hearth’. ‘Hearth’ builds on the diverse landscapes of sound explored over 7 tracks on their DIY concept EP ‘Falls’ in 2014. A self-released EP that saw the band playing alongside the likes of Emarosa, Young Lions, Slaves, Bayside and Dance Gavin Dance.

The debut single off this new album is entitled ‘Dark Emu’, and is the first taste of what’s to come. It showcases how the band has grown in terms of dynamics and incorporating heavier sounds and textures, while still maintaining their unique sound.

They are launching the atmospheric track Friday May 11th at The Curtin in Melbourne alongside Slow Talk, Dr Sinha’s Jazz Lobotomy and Cold Tide.

‘Dark Emu’ by The Valley Ends is almost two songs in one. The first half explores eclectic rhythms with catchy vocal hooks, whilst the second half explores darker and heavier tones. The lyrics are purposefully written to be open to interpretation, encouraging listeners to discover their own meaning.

In saying this, lead vocalist Tim D’Agostino generally speaks to themes of lost knowledge, feelings of helplessness and the intrinsic need for community. D’Agostino reflects upon reading a powerful book, of the same title, on the history and culture of pre-colonialist Australia.

‘Dark Emu’ is produced, mixed and mastered by Blake Drenth, guitarist of The Valley Ends and the ‘Dark Emu’ single artwork is the first glimpse of greater album artwork by Ukranian artist Denis Sarazhin

The Valley Ends acknowledge and pays their respects to the traditional owners of this land (Australia) and to elders past, present and future.

The track will be available in iTunes, Spotify and Bandcamp Friday May 4th and tickets are on sale now for their launch show on May 11th at the Curtin Hotel. For more information, go to facebook.com/thevalleyends.
