“Cold Shoulder” by indie-rockers MRYGLD includes everything that needs to be in a real Indie Rock song. Brilliant strong vocals, a strong beat and of course the song is driven by guitars. I like the message of the song and the way it makes me feel when I sing it. I will be keeping an eye on MRYGLD with a new EP due out in August. Check it out here.
More about MRYGLD
MRYGLD (pronounced ‘marigold’) are a rock band from Birmingham, AL, formed in 2017 by Brandon Snipes (vocals, guitar) and Shane Jewell (lead guitar). With infectious melodies, arena-ready guitar riffs, and driving rhythms, their sound is further distinguished by having two lead singers. The dueling vocals of Snipes and Alyssa Jewell (vocals, keys) weave seamlessly in and out of the tracks, sharing the spotlight.
MRYGLD recently finished recording their self-titled, debut EP and have been writing songs for a follow up full-length record.
The Jewell’s met Snipes in 2015, when they saw him play at a local music festival (Avondale Music Festival). A conversation after the show led to instant chemistry over shared musical tastes. After over a year of playing shows together with their respective bands (B. Snipes, Crimson Cabins), they decided to go all in on forming an epic rock band. After recruiting Kyle Blair (drums) and James McCauley (bass), the lineup was set and MRYGLD was born.
