“…spine-chilling… Amigo the Devil is a strange, hard-to-define entity that hovers like a slightly vengeful ghost around the peripheries of metal, dark folk, and Americana, claimed by none but with roots in all three.” – Noisey

“Amigo The Devil is pushing the boundaries of folk and metal…” – Alternative Press

“Gothic Country Americana here… Guitar and banjo as towering as a barn… Everything Is Fine is more than fine – a catchy gallows-humorous take on Americana sound.” – Decibel Magazine

“…an artist packed only with his trusty banjo and a set of pipes that croons of fear and despair in a romantically dark aura I can’t stop listening to.” – Metal Injection

“Bringing a crazy mash of Dark-Folk, blues, Bluegrass, Outlaw Country, campy and torch songs, Danny drips these styles down through a centrifuge with a moonshine back-of-the-throat-burn finish.” – Ghost Cult Mag
A key figure in the U.S. ‘murder folk’ scene which also includes contemporaries such as The Devil Makes Three and The Dead South, the music of singer-songwriter AMIGO THE DEVIL is a unique blend of folk that also incorporates elements of Southern Gothic, Country and Bluegrass. Initially influenced by the likes of Tom WaitsNick Cave and Godspeed! You Black Emperor, the artist born as Danny Kiranos has a recognized sound that carries traces of artists such as Americana string band Old Crow Medicine Show and singer-songwriters William Elliott Whitmore and David Eugene Edwards of 16 Horsepower, allied with direct, often morbid lyrics shot through with a dark sense of humor.
Produced by Ross Robinson – renowned for his work with major league hard rock/metal acts such as Korn, Slipknot, At The Drive In and Glassjaw – Everything Is Fine also features drummer Brad Wilk (Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, Prophets of Rage) sitting in on the entire recording session. The album was recorded at Valentine Studios, a time capsule untouched since the 70’s with all the original gear and atmosphere. Everything Is Fine was recorded, mixed and mastered to tape to capture an absolute and pure brutal honesty.
Despite being armed with only his vocals and a banjo/acoustic guitar, AMIGO THE DEVIL‘s live show is worlds away from what people expect of a traditional folk show. Loaded with sing-alongs and an unsuspecting dose of humor to make otherwise grim topics accessible for fans of every genre, the songs remain deeply rooted in the tradition of story-telling that seems to be slipping away from the human condition.
