Wizards of Winter offers a fun night of Power Metal, ballads, and classical style Christmas music once again on their third tour. This super group and its eclectic group of members offers some great twist on traditional tunes as well as originals written by members.
The line up is pretty stacked, This year’s members are Scott Kelly- Founder, Sharon Kelly, Greg Smith (Blue Oyster Cult, Rainbow) , John O.Reilly (Blue Oyster Cult, Trans- Siberian Orchestra), Fred Gorhau, Steve Brown ( Trixter, Def Leppard), Kornelia Rad, Vinny Jiovino, Karl Scully ( The Irish Tenors), Alexis Smith, Tony Gaynor. Super Group is an understatement. The talent of each singer and musician are top notch. Despite the rough start with the sound in the Melbourne Auditorium, which was corrected quickly, the show is a complete package.
The narrator, Tony Gaynor, takes you on a journey from the beginning of the Christmas story to the North Pole and back. Stops along the way include the remixing of Jingle Bells, a stunningly beautiful rendition of O Holy Night (mixed with the loosely translated Ave Maria) and my personal favorite, possibly the best adaptation of the Beatles hit, With a Little Help From My Friends, an operatic mix beautifully lead by Vincent Jiovino. Quite possibly one of the best covers I have heard to date.
Wizards of Winter is a great addition to the Holiday Festivities. Celebrate with them this season as the tour continues:
