Australian born Jake and Luke Davies, who live in Los Angeles, don’t have the accent but certainly have the attitude. Jake sat down to have a chat about their single “Let’s Go”, a little Hollywood magic, and fighting for your right to party.
“The song ( Let’s Go) is pretty mindless and self explanatory, but that’s what the riff begged for. A fun kind of song. Another fun party rock anthem. It’s only two minutes and fifteen seconds long, so it doesn’t linger around like a bad smell, and it doesn’t overstay it’s welcome.”
I asked Jake why so short. ” Well the sweet spot is ever changing, but anything over three minutes and thirty seconds is too long ” ( for making the cut on most ranked streaming lists). He’s actually had a couple of complaints, from friends and fans, that it’s too short. Jake’s feels it’s “not a song that needs another section. Our bass player (Rob Gravely) said the other day ‘ it’s not Shakespeare. Not too deep November Rain kind of lyrics.’ It’s really about stop procrastinating and get out there. Fucking do it. The hardest part of any journey is just getting started.”
The video features what seems to be a practically indestructible Hyundai which I called amazing. Jake was sure to correct me by saying “Amazing that it’s a piece of shit. It’s a little 2013 Accent we use to fart around town in. We don’t even take it out on the freeway. My brother ( Luke) suggested we get a little 360 cam and drive around raging to the song. As it developed it became a story board with us hanging out of the windows and on top of the car and the question became should we do it practically or not? Probably not. “. That’s when the decision to use a green screen and a warehouse came into being.

“We knew it wasn’t going to be a Marvel/ Pixar thing. It was going to be more of an 80’s green screen style. So we went with it. Directed by Tony Vercelli, this video is just fun to watch. My opinion, it was a great decision to not do it practically. The best part is it is almost a bit campy, in the great I want to show my friends way. You can check it out here:
In some earlier work, Of Limbo also covered The Beastie Boys “Fight For Your Right (To Party). I asked Jake where the inspiration to cover that particular song came from. During the COVID lockdowns, they were making an EP entitled “Covered 19″. Suddenly touring was opening back up and they received a call to open for Buckcherry. So ” We drunkenly recorded it because during the lockdown I realized how much I appreciated my right to party, to go out, to be with friends, have a drink. Every night I told the crowd you gotta fight for your right to party because if you don’t fight for your rights they will be taken away from you.”
Be on the lookout for the next big tour for Of Limbo. I tried to get Jake to tell me who, but he’s not saying just yet. They are also working on new music. Follow their social media and website below to try to keep up with this fast moving group.
