Quavo Returns to Music in 2024

Rap trio Migos has since disbanded following the tragic passing of Takeoff, but rapper and frontman Quavo has been using music to deal with the tragedy and explore his own artistry. In 2023, he released an album called ‘Rocket Power’ dedicated to his late bandmate and nephew and opened up about how music has been a form of therapy for him to process grief. Now, in 2024, after briefly reuniting with former Migos member Offset to pay tribute to Takeoff, he’s kicking off his 2024 solo career with a new release titled “Himothy.” Over a melodic piano and a trap beat, he raps about making it through the hard times and making it big while giving a nod to his nephew. 

Quavo’s music and previous releases

Rapper Quavo rose to fame as a part of the rap trio Migos, which garnered massive success over the past few years with songs like “Bad and Boujee” and “Walk It Talk It”, among many others. Collaborations with top rap and hip-hop artists, including Nicki Minaj, Drake, Lil Uzi Vert, and more, brought them further into the spotlight. His solo work and music made with fellow groupmate and nephew Takeoff have also been met with acclaim, as well as his various guest features in multiple Billboard Hot 100 top ten singles. Quavo’s debut solo album, Quavo Huncho, was released in 2018, and he and Takeoff departed from Migos to release the Only Built For Infinity Links album in 2022 as the duo Unc & Phew. In 2023, he dropped the single “Honey Bun” and the album Rocket Punch in honor of Takeoff. “Himothy” also mentions Takeoff while flaunting his prowess and strength amid the struggles he’s faced.

Aside from music, Quavo garnered attention for his equally flashy, high-end style, as Migos alluded to in their debut single “Versace.” Quavo has often been seen in brands like Louis Vuitton, Valentino, and, of course, Versace. Accessories are also a must-have for the rapper; chains, heavy pendants, earrings, bracelets, and a grill in his mouth are some of his signature pieces. He’s also often seen in designer sunglasses from various brands like Celine and Prada. Oakley sunglasses have often been seen on the rapper as well. With Quavo being a big sports fan, the sports sunglasses brand suits his love for stylish eyewear while offering a cool look. He took to Instagram to flaunt his Patrick Mahomes’ Limited Edition Oakley Sunglasses and has worn the Radar EV Path model.

Whether it’s music or fashion, Quavo has never shied away from boldness and big moves. He walks it like he talks it, rapping about the luxuries he earned by making it big despite the hardships and grief.

Other endeavors 

Despite some downtime in music releases, Quavo has also been pursuing other endeavors in the business world. He recently partnered with global spirits company Sazerac to debut “White X” cognac. It’s one of the first white cognacs available in the U.S., showcasing his business-forward thinking by tapping into a fresh brand and emerging market. He’s also previously collaborated with fashion brand BoohooMan to release a collection of men’s clothing and fashion accessories, linking back to his love for style. He’s staying active in the music and business world, allowing him to pursue new things as a solo act.

What’s next for Quavo?

Following the release of “Himothy,” a new Quavo album might be brewing in the studio. There hasn’t been a formal announcement yet, but this new drop may signal more to come from the rapper. As for Migos, some fans may still be holding onto hope for a reunion with fellow member Offset, as they were able to join forces for Takeoff’s sake after tensions rose between them a few years ago. It might not be in the cards any time soon, but if legendary bands like Avenged Sevenfold could break the music silence after seven years, time may bring them back into the studio once again.
