New album release – “John Lee Hooker’s World Today”

Hugo Race and Michelangelo Russo release a brand new, career-spanning collection of John Lee Hookers finest tracks. Both musical veterans are no strangers to the blues or the Hooker catalogue and impressively, the release showcases an introspection into decades of music making.

Hailed as a supreme influence on the music of their band Hugo Race & The True Spirit, Race and Russo’s reimagining of Hooker is simultaneously blues, electronica, avant-garde and ambient and a great homage to one of the greats of rock and roll prehistory.

Recorded in a single, continuous day and night live session at the Berlin studio of Einsturzende Neubauten with engineer Boris Wilsdorf, this is an epic album of sonic sorcery suspended in time and place, looking back through twenty-first century through the eyes of John Lee Hooker’s delta blues legacy, in a swirling mix of analogue grit and the deep trance pulses on the 100th anniversary of Hooker’s birth.
Released internationally today through Glitterhouse Records and Gusstaff Records in Europe, and Rough Velvet Records/MGM in Australia. Race and Russo will tour John Lee Hooker’s World Today in Australia, July-September 2017.

ever made…’
