Capulet Fest Looks To Change The Future

With the reputation and future of some festivals still in the balance, Estevan Vega of third year Capulet Fest, looks to build the next must see music weekend .

It isn’t easy these days with larger corporate conglomerate festivals taking over the landscape of music. It’s hard on the artists, especially new comers and mid level, to even get on the ticket, much less afford to travel to the various venues, cover additional expenses and still manage to work in a tour around the halo of block out areas most festivals require. Capulet festival may be the place for them. It isn’t in an over saturated market. It isn’t 90,000 fans. What it is, from the description I’ve been getting is a destination festival with a twist. The twist is the PASSION it’s creator and organizer has to bring music to his area at a price that is affordable, and give the current atmosphere of the super festival, intimate. Ga pricing starts at $175 plus service fee and doesn’t include parking. Camping for the weekend is $100 plus service fee. All in all not too bad for an entire weekend. Additionally there are ample add-ons such as the meet and greet package ( current artists list below) and a special merch package. Limited VIP ticketing is also available.

This festival tops out this year with two stages, four thousand people, and good amount of bands ( they are still announcing performers so the final count isn’t out). Most recently announcing Sleep Theory to the lineup doesn’t hurt either. The weekend headliners are well known, and all terrific artists. August Burns Red takes on Friday, Skillet on Saturday, and Sunday closes the weekend with Nothing More.

Let’s get to the real talk about this festival. Since he was fifteen years old, Estevan, and accomplished author and according to his bio music aficionado, has wanted to do something to bring music closer to his home. He started Capulet Entertainment in 2012 . Working exclusively in Connecticut, Rhode Island and New Hampshire and booking high profit talent in the past, he’s no stranger to the scene. With Capulet Festival, he appears to be accomplishing his goal. Even if you haven’t heard of it, he’s been working hard for the last three years to increase the experience for his New England Neighbors.

This year partnering , for the second year, with Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park in Thompson Connecticut, it places it right in the middles of all the major cities in New England. Not a bad place to be. He is building his own festival by his own rules. He made it plainly clear he had no desire to compete with the larger festivals. Speaking to him, I can understand why. His heart is in the right place. His passion is palpable. He’s not looking to make millions, he probably wouldn’t turn it down, he is looking to bring enjoyment to the family that is the true music fans. His goal is a mere four thousand tickets NOT 40, 000 plus. That seems pretty obtainable to me.

He also, has some pretty good weather plans. All parking is on site, so no busses in an emergency. Fans can simply go to their car. That always seems like the best plan. In addition, one of the stages is under roof. Giving it some shelter from the elements and making the festival less likely to cancel. There is always a possibility of dangerous weather at any festival, but at least, if it’s just annoying rain, recovery is possible. As long as festival goers are safe, the show will go on.

Another upside, at least how I see it, is there are only two stages. For me, that means I may not have to face a hard choice to pick missing and entire set of a band in favor of another. That is a better way to get your money’s worth than having to run between five stages and miss two thirds of the lineup anyway. It is billed as New England’s Premier alternative music festival. I think he is well on his way to achieving it.
