Styx Continues To Rock Our World

Looking back on a long career isn’t all Styx is doing lately.  The Brotherhood of Rock tour is hand in hand with the release of a brand new album “Circling From Above” on July 18, 2025.

The new single “Built and Destroy” is very true to the original iconic style music Styx is famous for but adding fresh new eyes and audiences along the way.

I’m very lucky to have experienced the transformation of music through several eras.  Some good, some not so good and some downright terrible.  The one thing Styx has been particularly good at is staying true to their style and message.  While, admittedly, they almost went to the trendy path in the early 80’s, they never committed to it and the one song I didn’t have a great love for ended up being not only one of their most recognizable songs, it also became almost prophetic. Don’t believe me? Watch the Mr. Roboto video through the eyes of present day AI.

This has always been what Styx through my personal experience has been. To get philosophical about it, they are a mirror into humanity for generations.  Whether it was simple themes such as raging unemployment “Blue Collar Man”, the final thoughts of a condemned man, “Renegade” or the even more complex and modern themes. Styx continues to produce some of the most intricate works that does and will continue to speak to generations, if we are here to listen

So how timely is “Build and Destroy”? Catch Styx live on the Brotherhood of Rock Tour most of this summer.  It’s worth the trip.  Whether you’re new to them or seeing them for the tenth time, it’s worth it.
