INFINITY BROKE ‘ONLY THE DESERT GROWS’ FIRST TASTE OF FORTHCOMING ALBUM

Sydney quartet Infinity Broke release their new single ‘Only the Desert Grows’ from their forthcoming second album Before Before.

Described by the group as “a sinister spaghetti-western surf-scarred howl”, ‘Only the Desert Grows’ charts the feverish and exhausted collapse of a couples’ relationship as they journey deep into the heart of a nameless desert. Inspiration-wise the track takes its lyrical cues from the 1950’s Paul Bowles classic novel The Sheltering Sky, whilst musically it recalls Link Wray’s reverberant guitar attack at its fiercest.

Infinity Broke is lead by ex Bluebottle Kiss front man and soloist in his own right, Jamie Hutchings on guitar and vocals, sibling Scott Hutchings on guitar and percussion, bassist Reuben Wills and drummer Hugh Deacon (Previous drummer Jared Harrison recorded drums for the album). The group formed off the back of Hutchings last solo album Avalon Cassettes, but decided on a group name when their new material took a decidedly noisier, and more experimental direction.

Setting up camp in a former shearing shed in rural NSW, Infinity Broke recorded over 70 minutes worth of music back in January 2013. The first of the recordings were released in April 2014 as Infinity Broke’s debut album River Mirrors. The album captured the imaginations of many punters, critics and DJs both at home and abroad and was released in France on Beast Records which lead to the band touring throughout France as well as Australia.

Where River Mirrors focused on a percussive improvisational- heavy sound, Before Before is a more concise, though no less wild collection of freewheeling songs. Equal parts surf, soul, noise and experimentation, Before Before promises to be a thrilling ride and a worthy follow up to River Mirrors.
