Interview with Benje Travis – Local Stage Wildwood Festival

Tell us a little about yourself?

I’m a solo artist from Port Macquarie. I’ve been playing around our area for the past few years. I’ve always loved playing guitar and piano since I was very young and music has always been a huge part of my life. I’m really happy to be on the Wildwood Festival bill, playing alongside some amazing acts.

Can you explain you sound to us?

I listen to a lot of solo alternative folk artists so I’ve kind of taken on that sound myself. My musical tastes are broad so you never really know what you’re going to get with me.

What can we expect from your performance?

I like to break away from structural norms of live performance. Sometimes one song will turn into two or two songs into one. I like to feel my way through rather than have a ridged plan. So sometimes I’ll play guitar and then swap to keyboards, depends where the mood is.

What are you working on right now?

Right now I’m in pre-production for a debut EP that’s coming out December 1^st. I’m also working on a comic book to accompany the release and various other visual arts projects.
