Band Tapped for KORN spring/summer tour and set to play major rock festivals
Rising RockersDEDhave released a new video for “Anti-Everything”, directed by Limp Bizkit frontman and filmmakerFred Durst. The adrenaline-inducing and socially relevant anthem is getting major play in power rotation onSirius XM’s Octaneand recently debuted on the Active Rock radio charts, with its course soon to break in the Top 30. The band will be touring with KORN starting in May, and will also be appearing at Carolina Rebellion, Rock on the Range, Rocklahoma, Chicago Open Air, and Rise Above Festival.
Throughout the video, various techniques were used to obscure the band’s identity and give it a mysterious and foreboding look: blurred focus, flipping the negative on the performance, shooting the members in dim light or shrouding them in smoke, it’s not easy to make out the individual band members while on screen. What is visible is the energy that these figures are putting into the visually stunning and undeniable performance.
Says DED’sJoe Cotela: “It was an honor for us to have Fred running the ship and directing on this. We all grew up listening to Limp Bizkit and watching music videos he directed for LB, Korn, Staind, etc. He really understands how to get your best from you – I imagine being an artist himself really helps with that”.
He continues, “We focused on capturing our live vibe and being free to be whoever we really are during a performance. Coupled with our passion for horror films, we wanted something eye grabbing and strange but not necessarily gore-filled. Our favorite aspect of horror is the psychological part, the part that actually truly affects you. The song is all about individuality and being unique and I think the video really expresses that with how distinctive it looks. We’re really excited to share this with everyone – check it out!”
DED was born in the music scene of Phoenix, Arizona and has been together for 2 years. Band members Joe Cotela (Vocals),David Ludlow(Guitar),Kyle Koelsch(Bass), andMatt Reinhard(Drums) developed a friendship and ultimately a musical partnership that mixes horror and dark imagery to develop a familiar, yet unique sound that sets them apart from other bands.
The band’s work ethic, drive, anddedication led them to record an EP that quickly made the rounds of the music industry, and started a buzz that opened doors. Using that as a springboard, the band hit the road and toured with Beartooth, Asking Alexandria, Atreyu, Every Time I Die, Upon a Burning Body, The Acacia Strain, John 5, Powerman 5000, and Insane Clown Posse among others.
Their touring helped grow awareness in the business and brought them to the attention of producerJohn Feldmann(Disturbed, Blink-182, Beartooth). Their collaboration with Feldmann culminated in the band signing withJordan Schur @ Suretone Records– who discovered and grew the careers of platinum rock acts Staind and Limp Bizkit, among others. Suretone will be releasing their debut album on May 19th, 2017.
