Penny Loafer PR is a music promotions company originally from Australia and now based in Austin TX. We work with independent, unsigned bands to get their music out to a greater audience and build their fan base both within the US and Australia.
PENNYFEST is our annual birthday bash we have held in Austin the past three years since launching Penny Loafer PR. We are very excited to be able to bring the festival to Melbourne for the second time this February for the 5th official #PENNYFEST.
Jen chatted to the bands playing at PENNYFEST this year. All colour coded for you!
In 5 words can you describe your sound.
Creature Fear -Energetic, diverse, theatrical, dance, contagious.
Tempus Sun Obese, energetic, ferocious, Ethereal and emotive.
Jack and the Kids Dreamy, emotional Indie Rock.
I Know The Chief High energy, psychedelic indie dance
Can you tell us how you all met to form your bands?
Just after moving to Melbourne lead singers met at university open day with shared aim of starting a band, everyone else later through gigs/friends/uni.
They all met at Uni. The five boys got together and kicked it all off then Rya filled in on vocals for a gig which was great, but she came to the next gig thinking she was on but Andrew (singer) was back so we said “both sing”. She still hasn’t left !!!
Two of us met at our local primary school in our hometown, Strathfieldsaye which is just out of Bendigo. The other two were found in outer space.
We’re mates of mates from different areas and groups that were introduced and brought together by mutual friends.
What city in Australia are you guys from?
Based in Melbourne now! Two members originally from Wagga Wagga, others Warnambool and local vic towns.
It’s a combo of Melbourne, Seymour, Tumut, Griffith, Launceston and Mildura. We’re still debating!
We are from Bendigo, Victoria.
Penny Loafer PR do a great job promoting local talent. How did your relationship with them come about?
We got a friendly out of the blue email asking us to be a part of this incredible line up!
We’d heard of Penny Loafer before Rob hit us up to come play a show and that’s where we started. They have a great roster and everything we’ve done so far has been fun and super smooth.
Our relationship with Penny Loafer has only just begun. They invited us to play this years Pennyfest and it’s been great working with them.
We received and email from Rob reaching out to see if we’d be keen to play at PennyFest – we liked the sound of what he and the company were putting together and are stoked to be onboard!
What is your current single?
Current single is ‘Please Me’, new single coming soon!
We released two recently but the best reception of the two was ‘Owls’. It’s a little bit left of centre but we love it and the response has been really good, really good.
Our current single is called ‘Your Eyes’. It’s a song about that moment in your life when you realise your getting old.
Our latest single is ‘Feel The Way’
