Mac Sabbath Brings Their “Drive Thru Metal” To Orlando, Florida On Their Way To The Monsters Of Rock Cruise.

If you’ve never seen this band, you’re missing out on a low calorie, high entertainment filled show.

I’ve been waiting a good while to catch Mac Sabbath and their anti- fast food comedy, metal, parody show. For me, it sometimes come down to how is this going to appear on camera. I was absolutely intrigued from the moment they blasted on the scene in 2014. Anyone these days can form a tribute band, it takes a special kind of creativity to stand out in a crowd. I can be, let’s just say, brutally honest in my reviews. While everyone would like a good review, I try to be honest.

This time I decided to take a basic metal virgin (he has been to exactly one show EVER) with me to give his take on everything and to add a new perspective to my fandom. There are pages of notes. The first sentence was “Mac Sabbath ENCORE ENCORE!”

Visually, this band is a treat. The colorful costumes, creative takes on a certain group of classic fast food characters are very well done. I’m not sure how Slayer MacCheese can keep it together and not just walk right off the stage, or how Grimalice plays a pretty tight bass line with giant foam hands attached to the back of his fingerless gloves, but they do. There’s a ton of people out there that can’t play without constantly looking at the fret board. I’m not sure either of them can see it.

It’s not just a gimmick. It’s a group of talented musicians who have found a niche market and a loyal following. I ran into quite a few people who have seen this band more than five times.

If you’re wondering what Ozzy Osbourne thinks of his music being parodied by a bunch of guys in these crazy costumes, you can check out his reaction to seeing them when his son, Jack brought him to a private viewing here:

Their drummer, also known as the Cat Burgler, is a reference to Peter Criss of Kiss combined with the classic Hamburgler. He was equally engaging . Emerging from behind the drum kit a few times and even doing a little dancing. It made my heart happy.

The ringmaster of this rather bizaare circus is known as Ronald Osborne. If clowns creep you out, this isn’t the show for you. He has perfected the art of looking completely off his rocker. His stage presence was incredible and vocally he is a powerhouse. He seems to really enjoy the show. Many times with almost a child like wonder in his bright blue eyes. What’s possibly the most insane part of last night was he performed the entire set in what looks to be a pretty fresh cast on his arm and a cheerful, red and white striped sling to match his sleeve. With so many artists cancelling shows lately, he personified what is truly special about some artists. He had to have been in pain. He didn’t let it slow him down one bit. During “Frying Pan” he was flipping and catching his burger patties one handed.

It was made even better by watching my new assistant’s face during the show and realizing he was having a great time. He gave, in his notes, “Frying Pan” a ten out of ten. He summed up the show with “Seeing this group was definitely a helping of ‘extra fries’ or as I would call it, a surprise. I was just not expecting such a fun and interactive performance.” I completely agree.

In the last song of the night, Mac Sabbath went a little rogue, performing the Styx hit “Come Sail Away” while Ronald wore a sailor’s cap.

It was a little invitation to everyone present to join them on the upcoming Monsters or Rock Cruise April 29 to May 4 2023. Unfortunatley for those who don’t already have passage, it is completely sold out.
