Mysterious and Enigmatic Sleep Token Was Met With Enthusiasm And Massive Cheers At Blue Ridge Rockfest.
About the only thing anyone knows about Sleep Token is as mysterious as they are talented.
It’s hard to say much else as they have only conducted one interview ever. No one knows who is really behind the masks and robes. I’m a bit obsessed about that. How is it possible to keep a secret identity secret, especially for over six years in a society that posts everything all the time? Sleep Token has been pulling off that feat and I swear I’ve heard the voice of Vessel before. His stage presence is incredible, suggestion someone with way more experience than their careers indicate.

When they took the stage at Blue Ridge Rockfest the crowd went wild. Their show was a bit hard to hear but only because there were so many people screaming in compete delight and passion for this band. It was a bit surreal to watch the show.
The ease in which Vessel carries the notes, and the consistency of his vibrato have some speculating that it isn’t completely natural. Some implying tracking or other cheats. Without concrete proof, I don’t ever take someone’s voice for granted, nor do I assume anyone is “just too good live”. Until I’m proven otherwise, I’m going with there is a ton of untapped talent and I really wish they would all just own it and tell us who they are.

The mystique does have advantages though. They don’t speak to anyone. With that comes the ability to have a life outside of the music industry madness, or work on projects outside of the limitations of traditional artists. Notwithstanding that one of the band Kiss’s worst ideas was to unmask themselves ending up many years later just putting everything back on, but not seeing the insane success afforded them prior to that time. The stage show is beautiful to watch, but infuriating to photograph, presumably to also keep their identities as secret as possible.
The music itself bends and touches on many styles, which I like. I don’t believe in limiting what is on my playlist. I try out many different styles of music, and, depending on my mood, I change my mind on what I consume. A good portion of the live show at Blue Ridge was almost trance-technoish. It was exactly what I needed at the exact moment I needed it. If I could have stayed in the pit longer if I could have. I enjoyed it quite a lot. I recommend checking them out.
