In 2010, Sydney hip hop label Big Village was born after a collective of friends and artists wanted a platform to release their music. 6 years on, label boss man Rapaport has had a minute to work on his first solo release through the label and we can assure you it has been worth the wait.
Off his forthcoming album ‘Village Idiot’ Rapaport brings us ‘What I Got’ as premiered earlier today via Tone Deaf – an introspective, high energy track produced by October Records’ very own Ribongia. Not one to mince words, Rapaport rises from the ashes with his impeccable cadence and intense delivery, taking us on the journey of the ongoing struggle to be happy with what you have instead of always looking for something more.
The meaningful track, carried with ferocity by its heavy African influenced tribal beat also has moments of playful clarity with the chorus being delivered by Sydney songstress Billie McCarthy. With a proven track record of genre pushing hip hop, including previous project Loose Change – we await with baited breath his next move.
The debut album Village Idiot is slated for release in early 2017 and will be available through Big Village Records.
