Brisbane newcomers, and punk-prog monsters He Danced Ivy have unleashed The Verbal Kind on an unsuspecting Australia. The Verbal Kind is the lead single and title-track of He Danced Ivy’s debut album set to ensnare hearts and ears Thursday, October 27.

The Verbal Kind ‘s running bass and thick riffs are a perfect introduction to the high energy, thrashing 10 track album. To celebrate the boys are bashing down the doors at Crowbar on Thursday, October 27 to play with prog bosses Red in Tooth and Mofoisdead.

The Verbal Kind is angular and dark, showcasing all of He Danced Ivy’s strengths including strong harmonies in the chorus, groovy breakdowns and intense punk-rock energy with progressive sensibilities.

“The song touches on the cliche of grass always being greener on the other side, and the danger in pursuing that other side,” said guitarist and vocalist, Dave Cheney.

The song title references the ultra-verbal kind of person who’s insecurities drives them to being loud, brash and attention seeking to impress friends.

“The main theme of the track is the struggle for individuality, and how sometimes we can break ourselves down in an attempt to belong,” said bassist, Mitch Hart.

The music video for The Verbal Kind see’s the boys tormented by voodoo magic as they play through the song while being burnt, battered and bathed.

He Danced Ivy draw from a number of influences to define their sounding including; Twelve Foot Ninja, Karnivool, At The Drive-In, Soundgarden, and Violent Soho.

You’ll be able to catch He Danced Ivy launching their debut album on Thursday, October 27 at Crowbar Brisbane, and Saturday, October 29 playing the Banana Field Festival in Coffs Harbour.
