After a few minutes listening to the lyrics of ‘Docs’ I knew that this song would be shared here. Being a women in the entertainment business is tough. Other’s expectations can make us feel so bad. It is difficult to embrace what makes us unique. Leah Capelle helps us to remember to be ourselves. The music video captures this message and adds some colour. I encourage you to watch below.

Leah Capelle’s energetic new single “Docs” is an anthem of self-discovery and acceptance. EARMILK writes, “it proves how endearing, attractive, and upbeat vulnerability can be when done right.” The “Docs Official Music Video” represents Leah’s struggles as an artist and as a woman, and how she is overcoming them. “I wanted the visual to be powerful, but still have an air of fun and spontaneity. As a woman in the music industry, it’s so important the evaluate the expectations of what womanhood ‘should look like’ in modern society, and come together with fellow women to break those expectations down. So the video, while about coming to terms with what makes each of us unique, is also about being comfortable in our own, truest forms.” Atwood Magazine concludes: “Cheerfully ironic and ruthlessly driving, ‘Docs’ is a reminder of what really matters most – and it isnt those new shoes.

Leah Capelle is a stunningly talented alternative/pop/rock artist from Chicago. She began performing and studying music at a young age through the Chicago School of Professional Singing, The Musician’s Institute, and Berklee College of Music before moving to Los Angeles to pursue her music full time. She is also currently pursuing a B.S. in Music Business at USC’s Thornton School of Music. Once settled in LA, Capelle partnered with Grammy winning producer Jeff Bova (Album of the Year, Celine Dion, Falling Into You) to release her self-titled debut EP in 2015. Capelle released a collection of three singles (collectively titled ‘Joshua’) at the beginning of 2017, which was her second project working with Bova. Skope Magazine says: “Sometimes a little goes a long way… Despite the apparent brevity of such a collection, Capelle encompasses vast musically imaginative worlds in this trio of songs thanks to two crucial factors above all others – the songwriting talent involved and, naturally, her vocal quality… Though she has technique to burn thanks to a stellar musical education and background, Capelle doesn’t sing like a technician. She has a freshness and spontaneity, instead, capable of capturing the spirit of any song with skill and grace. Leah Capelle is a rare talent.”

Capelle’s follow up single is “Better Off”, a moving acoustic ballad performed live in the studio featuring Leah’s good friend and drummer Hayley Brownell. Leah, in describing the meaning behind this song, explains: “‘Better Off’ is, at its core, a piece about letting go. When you know something is unhealthy, and is not bringing you joy no matter how much you wish it would, there is strength in being able to say that that thing – be it a situation, a place, or a person – cannot hold you back. This is a song about strength even when strength is the last option. Hayley and I were both going through situations with toxic friendships at the same time, and this song poured out of us very naturally. It’s truly been an honor for me to perform this as a duet with her, and we sincerely hope that this speaks to you.”

About her newest single, “Docs”, Leah writes: “‘Docs’ is a song about searching for happiness in material and surface things. It’s a true story of bizarre activities I was doing to make myself feel better, like buying clothes, rearranging my furniture, and going out pretending to be somebody I’m not… In reality, all my false attempts at being ‘okay’ made the matter worse. When I was younger, I had many male figures, whether significant others or mentors, tell me that ‘men don’t like short hair.’ So I kept my hair long because I was insecure. And finally, summer of 2016 I said ‘f*ck it’ and chopped it all off- that was a huge catalyst for me, and has actually brought me a lot of happiness in the weightlessness I feel now.” EARMILK writes, “it proves how endearing, attractive, and upbeat vulnerability can be when done right,” and Atwood Magazine concludes, “Cheerfully ironic and ruthlessly driving, ‘Docs’ is a reminder of what really matters most – and it isnt those new shoes.” The Official “Docs” music video released March 23, 2018, premiered on EARMILK.
