CALM release new single ‘Carpe Diem’.

Jen’s hit prediction!  A song that the world needs to hear now! Sing it loud and understand the urgency in the meaning.

Indie band CALM from South London have a DIY approach to their music and they are doing a fantastic job on it! The band met while crossing paths in 2018 and started working on their music quickly in Adam’s bedroom. Their next move was, a few days ago, to release their single called ‘Carpe Diem’. This song’s meaning sums up what I am passionate about. I often think that of the Climate Emergency the world is experiencing, is that I can not do this alone. I have changed my practices in so many ways but it is not enough. I support the Climate Emergency protests that we have had here and admire those young people standing up for their future. The music video of ‘Carpe Diem’ has images of our world dying and protestors from around the world. It also shows a family just living their lives unaware that they are heading for a world excitation event. This imagery really brings  the message home.

The opening quote  in the video is one from Margaret Mead ” Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.

This quote is so true. History has shown us that this is true. What the world needs now is more people doing things to change the world. I feel that ‘Carpe Diem’. could be a soundtrack for groups of people that are aware that we are in a Climate Disaster. I must add in my review of the song is that I love the main vocals and the way that they are delivered, clear and precise. The music is catchy and makes me feel the urgency of the disaster. ‘Carpe Diem’ deserves to be a hit. Take a listen here.
