Burning Pools drop new single ‘White’.
Burning Pools is a new band led by former Smashing Pumpkins bassist Ginger Pooley, her husband Kristopher Pooley and guitarist. I reviewed their previous single ‘Bang Bang’ here. The trio are not only talented musically but they have the knack to write about songs that are current issues and explore their importance. It is clear what their latest track ‘White’ is about, the fight against racism. The lyrics “We are all colours and we are all brothers” stand out to me and of course the battle cry of ‘Fight‘. Take a listen to ‘White’ here.
Ginger States that their debut EP is a critique of the hierarchy of our value system., “It’s nothing new for music to be a voice of criticism of our culture. That is the purpose of a lot of art. This is just my way of expressing my frustration with the priorities of modern society. Valuing money over everything, undervaluing women and people of color. Hopefully our songs make people who are of the same accord feel heard and supported. There is so much injustice in the world, we hope to be a part of the solution in some small way.”
