Foreigner Is Leaping Into Farewell Tour

After nearly fifty years, the band Foreigner, is hanging up their golden instruments and platinum hits, but not before giving nearly everyone an opportunity to say goodbye.

The “Historic Farewell Tour” as it is printed on the tickets, is coming to a city near to you! Recently making a stop at West Palm Beach’s Ithink Amphitheater. Foreigner, who go their start in 1976 in New York City has seen their ups and downs. There’s no arguing there have been significant lineup changes since then. There are few bands who are touring this late in their career with all original members Aging is a a numbers game, and non of us are coming out on the other side winners but what a magnificent journey we rock and roll children of a certain age have had and are still having.

Mick Jones, the only original to still be playing, was sidelined to performing from a stool due to a recent injury. He was still smiling and having a great time. Kelly Hansen, a double decade veteran of the band, set the tone of the night by leaping for the riser to the stage. He had great air. It’s that type of energy that imbued itself to the crowd. The more energy given, the more received. From beginning to end the feelings of good times not-so-long past were filling the air. Nine album and 80 million records sold speaks volumes to their longevity. You can even score a LIMITED (5000 signed and numbered) EDITION GOLD VINYL greatest hits album.

Bassist Jeff Pilson; Michael Bluestein on keyboards; guitarist Bruce Watson; Chris Frazier on drums, and guitarist Luis Maldonado are some of the most energy filled performers out there and a perfect accompaniment to try to keep up with Hansen’s charisma. They all make it seem like a big family party that we were invited to.

Rain didn’t seem to temper the crowd, even those who weren’t under the shelter of the main roof. Let’s face it, it’s Florida in the summer time. It’s going to rain. Most people brought a rain poncho. Those that didn’t mostly just embraced the cooling rain. It can also be brutally hot so anything, other than a constant deluge and lightning, is bearable. The evening started with a high energy Double Vision, then Head Games and Cold As Ice. A perfectly placed acoustic set starting with When It Comes to Love, at song six, helped everyone catch their breath. (FULL SET LIST BELOW).

The evening ended with two encore songs, their biggest hit: I Want To Know What Love is and , the first 45 RPM I ever bought, Hot Blooded.
