Continuing to draw inspiration from their electronic roots whilst adding flares of hip hop and rock, Brisbane duo Capre, made up of Patrick Costello and Patrick Hameon, return with their enthralling new single “Give“. Recorded at Studio 301 in Sydney with producerJack Prest, there was a mutual understanding from the get go of what the finished product would be. Previously experimenting with the line between hiphop and electronic music, Jack played some extra percussion as well as helping the band bring their original vision to life.

With influences from the likes of Justice, Bonobo and Kamandi, the inspiration for Give came organically. Hameon created the the initial beat by chopping up and reversing a previous track. After adding 808s and snares, which he created himself, Costello and Hameon got together to create the atmospheric middle before finishing it off with singing and synth hooks.

capre-03.jpgThe artwork for the single is the physical manifestation of giving and taking between yourself or two humans as Patrick Costello explains, The premise of the track is giving and taking, how humans react to offering help and how they react to receiving it. The lyrical content follows a hypothetical situation between what sounds like two people. Ultimately it represents a conversation you can have with yourself or another. If you want to change something for the better in your life, sometimes it is necessary to give and take, make sacrifices, educate yourself whilst reflecting on past actions.”
